Happy Birthday Harris!

Today is Harris' 25th birthday and after knowing Harris for 7 years, I've been around long enough to hear the story of his birth. From what I've gathered from various family members, Harris' beginning starts in Colorado where is Mother, Janet, was laying (lying??) in her waterbed when she thought she had to pee. As she tried to get out of the waterbed her water-broke. Irony? I think yes. But I have heard countless times how Harris was the biggest of all her babies. Though we will never really know since Kyle was born at almost 9lbs and 6 weeks premature. The story goes that Janet pushed for 3 hours** and after Harris' head came out, it took another hour to push his shoulders out and Harris was finally here. All the nurses kept calling Harris Karl Mecklenburg, a linebacker for the Denver Broncos.

I would say that after seeing a picture of Mecklenburg, the nurses were very accurate in their description, though I haven't seen baby pictures (maybe someday in Texas??). But regardless of how my husband entered this world, I am so very glad that he did! Harris has always been at the center of the madness and crazy that comes with having 6 brothers and sisters. While I didn't know him as a kid, I laugh as I hear the crazy stories of Harris and his friends having crazy adventures, wrestling with his brother and breaking his mothers brand new couch, throwing gravel at his brother and missing and breaking the sliding glass window, and being a naughty trouble maker! (making this list is making me think it's a good thing we don't have boys haha!)  But the memories that I have been there for makes me all the more glad that Harris was born.

Harris is shy among those who he doesn't know. He is silly and loud around those that he does. Harris is a super-hero to our girls when he throws them in the air and takes them on shoulder rides. He can be moody, but is a romantic at heart. Harris is silly and loves to procrastinate and more often than not, produces his best work under pressure. He loves sports and can eat anything and not gain a pound. He willingly does the dishes so his wife doesn't have to and just as willingly orders pizza when I don't want to cook.  This is just a small list of the things that make me love my husband. But most importantly, Harris has a need and want to gain a greater testimony of the gospel. He leads our family in prayer, and gives us blessings when we need it. He could easily not try and let these small acts fall to the wayside, but Harris fights to keep these small things important in our family.

So I guess that all this lengthy post is trying to say is that I am so happy that my husband was born! What a great guy he is growing up to be.

Sisterly Love

I love seeing my girls together... This is what I found when I stopped cleaning and actually paid attention to what the girls were doing. Earlier I had put Ainsley on the blanket, and then Hailee and McKenzie decided they wanted to play Princess Castle with their sister too! Just seeing them love and laugh, play and share makes me feel so happy and so blessed. While their halos are held up by horns sometimes, I love their mischievousness and their kindness.

Playing Princess Castle.

So cute :)

Look at all those happy faces!!!!

McKenzie was cracking up!

Look at how grown up they are!

Hailee tattling on McKenzie behind me who was climbing up in to the baby swing.

Happy Halloween

This year was an interesting year for Halloween. It feels like it was August, then all of a sudden we looked at the calendar and it was October 29th! With me and the girls being sick and Harris getting sick... we completely skipped carving pumpkins (which I think we should still do) and Harris ended up being scheduled to work the night of Halloween. So we didn't know what to do until a good friend and neighbor of mine, Leah asked if I wanted to bring the girls and go Trick-Or-Treating with her and her boys, Dax and Liam. What a great time the kids had running from house to house getting candy.  And I honestly think that had I taken the girls to go trick or treating on my own it would have been a DISASTER! Thank goodness for Leah's Mother-in-law who helped me by pushing the stroller and by holding McKenzie's hand. Overall, for the girls first Halloween where we actually went to trick or treating... it was amazing!

Let it **Snow**

It snowed!! We went to bed and woke up the next morning with all this snow! Loved every minute of watching the girls play in the snow! All these pictures are from October 25th, Enjoy...

Snow angels!

McKenzie kept falling in the snow, not being able to get up. Almost like the little boy in a "Christmas Story"

McKenzie's favorite part of having it snow was eating it :)

The awesome sled ramp that Daddy and the girls built!

Getting ready to slide in...

Those are some happy campers :)

Lunt Family Pictures 2012

It was that time of year again and these are our family pictures! I love how they turned out... especially our family tribute to the Denver Broncos :) Enjoy!

Hailee Develops Attitude

Hailee has begun to develop a bit of an attitude. Hailee turned on a DVD with a bunch of Pixar shorts that we've watched a million times in the past two days. My discontent with the movie selection and Hailee's attitude produced the following conversation:

Harris: "We've watch this a million times already."

Hailee: "Too bad."

Shayna: "I think she just said, 'Too Bad.'"

Harris: "What did you say?"

Hailee, as I towered over her: "Too bad papa. I'm not watching golf. I'm watching this."

So proud of him...

This post is simply to brag about my wonderful husband. As most know, Harris is 2 semesters away from graduating with his BS in English and as part of a project he is working on this semester, Harris now has his own website. This website has many different topics along with personal essays, creative writing projects, articles that talk about males and homemaking, and some other fun things. So I am encouraging all of you to take a few minutes and check out my hubbys awesome site and even leave feedback!

Happy 3rd Birthday Hailee!

Happy Birthday my Princess! Love that genuine smile!

I cannot believe that my oldest child is 3! How did that happen? In the last three years Hailee has gained two sisters, a dog, has grown like a weed, and has given me a glimpse of the young women she will one day blossom into. She is kind with a stubbornness that can only come from her dad. She is great at getting her sisters to laugh and loves to include them in her games. Hailee loves to follow McKenzie's lead when it comes to getting into mischief.  Hailee loves to help around the house and will often times get McKenzie to sing while they clean. Never have I seen a little girl who loves to sing and dance more! At least once a day we have a dance party and we go all crazy (that she gets from me). And of course, as is the curse with being the older child, I tend to expect more from Hailee, but she has always been up to the challenge. I Love you my little princess and I look toward to many more birthdays ahead!

These are the two princess dresses I made for Hailee and McKenzie. I am pretty proud of these dresses since I didn't use a pattern, but looked up tutorials as I went along. Love how cute they turned out!

Hailee had been begging to wear her princess dress all day, but McKenzie wanted the thing off 5 minutes it was on. She was more interested in the shields and battle axes that Harris had bought for Dax and Liam. She is definitely our little tomboy :)

It's time for Pizza!!

Really... where is my cake?? lol
Dax and Liam digging in :)

Strawberry cake with Strawberry frosting at the request of the princess!

A purse that Leah made for Hailee. And even better.... the inside of the purse was made of the same fabric as her dress.

The Disney Princess Little People that go to her castle that I forgot to get a picture of. OOps.
