Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day from the Lunt family! While Harris and I are celebrating with a weekend get away for the first time since we've had kids.... there are no words for how excited I am. Harris and I needed this so bad, and we are so grateful to Laura (Harris' sister) who has graciously agreed to babysit our little monsters. Now, only to get my homework done in time...

So last night, Harris and I realized that we hadn't gotten the girls anything. So today, on his way home from work, he bought balloons and candy for the girls, chocolate turtles for me, and powdered doughnuts for him. :)

A friend of mine shared this blog Cinderella Duty on Facebook and I've been an avid follower ever since. The thing I loved about this blog was that there was a mom out there willing to show the world that keeping a house together with kids, school, and everything life throws at us is hard... but it can be done!

I'll admit, for awhile I was thinking that I was the only Mom who couldn't keep a clean house for longer than 25 minutes. I felt that as soon as I'd clean one thing, the girls have made a mess somewhere else. And then on those 'i want a day off' days and I let the dishes slide, or don't do the required load of laundry, everything snowballs and I feel too overwhelmed with the mass of toys dishes and laundry that all need attention.

Anyway, after reading this blog and I realized that it's okay if I go to bed with a sink full of dirty dishes.... granted, I was doing it anyway, but at least I had the comfort of knowing that I was not alone.
So in the spirit of sharing, this is what my living room looked like today.

**Disclaimer: There are two garbage bags with clothes and various things for DI on the ground. I promise I don't keep a heap of trash by the door haha... I was waiting for Harris to come home so he could put it in the car**

So as you can see... I too, was shocked by the mess, but I couldn't help but laugh, pull out the camera, and start helping them clean up. I had always felt that I had to clean by myself, but the girls are so excited to help clean up while we sing the 'clean up song' and make a game of cleaning up. This has been such a help, but sometimes I would rather just put them to bed, and clean on my own... and on those nights I feel no motivation to clean, I turn to A&E and watch Hoarders. Nothing gets me cleaning faster than watching my own fears jump into reality.

But in all honestly, I feel that I have come to live by this simple quote: "My house was clean last week... sorry you missed it." So just know all you moms out there that you are not alone. It's hard being Cinderella where raising children and keeping house is a 24/7 job with no vacations or breaks. But learning to look for that silver lining no matter how small keeps us from going insane.

New Camera Fun

I've had the same camera since my senior year of high school. Not to say that that camera wasn't amazing, because it was. But after several drops, and two kids (who shall remain nameless) got their beady hands on it... I've been looking into another camera. I thought about getting a DSLR, but Harris didn't see me using it to it's full potential. Maybe one day when I'm out of school I can get one and start a new hobby. In the meantime, I've been looking at the Olympus SZ-10. Its 14MP with 18X optical zoom. I had found some good deals on Amazon, but found the same one at Walmart for $50 cheaper!! Yes please!!

So I got my new camera and I LOVE IT!!! So while I get to take pictures with the new camera, the girls get to take turns taking pictures with the old camera. So here are the last of the pictures taken with the old camera and some fun pictures taken with the new camera! And if you are wondering where Hailee is in most of these shots... every time she saw me taking pictures she would run to get the old camera.

Stacking Blocks

Here is a video of McKenzie playing with the stacking blocks. I guess she's watched Hailee enough times that she wanted to do it herself. So far, we've found her playing with these blocks several times and she'll sit there for 30 minutes just stacking, dumping and laughing with the blocks. Love it!!!

All Dressed Up and Other Adventures

So for the past year, I've dodged requests from family to get pictures of my girls in their Church clothes. Don't know why.... but I've finally made sure the camera was charged, had it on the table and in hand with a half hour to spare before Church. So while I complain that having Church at 1pm with Relief Society last, I finally find myself ready to go out the door an hour before Church actually starts. So with the girls dressed, I couldn't help but take pictures.

I'm learning as a Mom to choose my battles. Hailee would only wear a dress if she could wear those boots.... What the heck, why not?

In other Lunt Daily Doings, Hailee has learned how to take pictures with the camera. Its been fun to give her the camera, let her run free and then look at the world through Hailee's eyes.

This week, the girls have been doing lots of cute things, and I can't help but post some pictures that just make my eyes light up!

I was actually doing dishes when I walked into the living room and found the girls lying side by side drinking their milk. It was absolutely adorable. After finishing dishes, I found them even closer together! I love that they will have a best friend growing up... both knowing the strains of having strange and silly parents.

Shayna: "Oh, she's trying to get up."

Harris: "Stay down there you peasant."

Shayna: "She's not a peasant, she's a quail."

Harris: "A quail is lower than a peasant."

Shayna: "Why?"

Harris: "Because peasants eat quail."

Shayna: "What?"

Harris: "I said peasant not pheasant."

ManiPedi Girl Time

As my girls are yelling at each other for possession of the current 'it' toy, I am still smiling at our bonding time that occurred just 10 minutes ago. Hailee and I were playing with play-do while McKenzie was napping when I looked down and my feet and just sighed.... It has been way too long since I gave myself a pedicure. I mean, it doesn't beat having someone else rub and massage your feet until you are a melted blob of contentment, but it works on a budget.
Anyway, as I mentioned to Hailee that I wanted to paint my toes, her eyes lit up as she pointed to her toes and said "Toes? Lets Go!" She eagerly led the way to my bathroom and pulled out the nail polish bag and off we were. We made a small tub of warm soapy water and soaked our feet. We pushed back our cuticles. And by we, I mean me while Hailee splashed water and kept trying to stab me with the nail file. As we finally chose our colors (Hailee: Pink, Mommy: Red) we painted and laughed and giggled. Then we heard McKenzie from the other room, as if she knew she was missing out and wanted in. I grabbed her and Hailee was immediately concerned that McKenzie's toes were bare. So I thought, "What the heck?" and grabbed the purple polish.
McKenzie had so much fun watching this purple goo go all over her toes. I was even more surprised when she let me without a fight and without touching her toes. It seems that both Hailee and McKenzie were mesmerized by this magical substance called 'nail polish'.
I got a glimpse today of what these moments will be like when they are older. Hopefully we'll all enjoy each others company as only the teenage years can bring tears of frustration and joy in a single second. I'm sure I'll learn quick enough ;)

Hailee wanted to sit in the Butterfly Chair and after finishing the dishes, I found that McKenzie had climbed into the chair with Hailee and they were cuddling and laughing! It was absolutely adorable! I love how these two are able to play with one another and make each other laugh. What a special bond they share that I hope continues on for the rest of their life. For no one else will understand what crazy parents they have!

Thanksgiving Lunt Style

This year was one of the best Thanksgivings I've ever had! The Hansen family clan (Maggie, Chad, Patrick, Auretta, David and Jessie) all joined us at our home for Thanksgiving this year. As I was preparing for Thanksgiving dinner I felt like the novice that I was. I bought a 23 lbs turkey for 4 adults and 6 children. Talk about the biggest turkey I have ever seen. The night before, we put the turkey in a giant garbage bag and put it in the bathtub hoping that it would thaw out in time to go into the oven. Sucess!! The turkey came out great! It was touch and go there for awhile as 4 adults worked in the kitchen at the last minute to make sure that every thing got cooked. Boy did we have a feast!!

I am so grateful that we were able to celebrate Thanksgiving with Maggie and her wonderful family. How lucky we are to be able to travel 5-6 hours and be with family. I have much to be grateful for and this Thanksgiving was a great way to express my thanks to my family. Love you all!

Happy Birthday my Darling Husband. Granted, it was on Monday, November 14th, but better late than never! We celebrated Harris' birthday with a yummy Pot Roast, Chocolate cake that I bought all by my self ;) and fun birthday presents. Harris chose a SpongeBob SquarePants theme, so we went all out. Hats and everything! It was great fun, and the girls had a blast wearing their cone hats! As for presents, Harris almost had to wait until Christmas when I found him feeling the gift wrapped present and guessing RIGHT!! what it was. The stinker bug! But I figure, since it was his birthday he should get to open something. I got Harris the Boxed set of the Inheritance Cycle Books (Eragon, Eldest, etc) and Hailee and McKenzie got Daddy a new wallet because his cards kept falling out of his other one.

Last night the girls got really silly, and for some reason wanted to get into the crib to play. Two kids playing in a small contained area??? Okay!!! Well while I was in the living room soaking up some R&R and I kept hearing "thud thud thud thud" then laughing, then "thud thud thud thud" so I figured it had to be something funny so I grabbed the camera and got this cute little clippet. As you can see, I've gotten McKenzie to keep her clothes on, but Hailee has managed, once again, to get all of her clothes off.

So the trial of the month has been getting Hailee AND McKenzie to keep their clothes on. Seriously. Every morning when I get the girls up, either Hailee, McKenzie or BOTH have an article of clothing off. Then throughout the day various pieces of clothing come off and after the third time putting clothes back on, it just doesn't seem worth it anymore. Happy Halloween 2011

This past weekend, we made our yearly trek down to Springville, Utah for my sister Maggie's Annual Halloween Party. Harris and I spent weeks (okay, it was only days) trying to decided what our family theme would be. Although, when Harris saw these cupcake costumes on sale at Old Navy for only $4 we quickly decided that Harris and I would be bakers and the girls would be cupcakes. We briefly talked about making me the oven, but we didn't want anyone to get the idea that I had a bun in the oven... so we scratched that and just decided to be bakers.

Maggie and Chad had a great family halloween theme. They were things out of a fairy tale! So cute! Maggie was a witch (the nice kind, don't worry), Patrick was a Pirate, Auretta was a Princess, David was a Dragon, and little Jessie was a black cat. And for the most creative costume, Chad was a Tower! You can't have a princess in a fairy tale without a tower! Loved it!

We had so much fun while we were down there! The kids all had fun playing together and dressing up in their costumes! In case you were wondering, Patrick isn't wearing make-up! A few days ago, Patrick tripped and hit his head on his bed frame and this is what he know looks like! Everyone at the party thought it was makeup, so if it had to happen, around Halloween was the best time!

Patrick was so brave! and we heard that he was excited to show everyone at school on Monday!

"It's Pumpkin Time..."

This year, I made sure that we carved pumpkins! We've slacked off the past few years, so the last time I was at Walmart, I bought some pumpkin carving kits, and two pumpkins for $2.98 each! (Talk about a good deal!!! Albertson's was trying to sell their smaller crappier pumpkins for $8. No Thank you!!) Although, I have to say, Harris held out on me when we were choosing pumpkins. I was wondering why he picked one of the smaller pumpkins and didn't find out until tonight, that the bigger the pumpkin, the thicker the shell. Hahaha!
Anywho, here are some fun pictures of our FHE Pumpkin Night. And in case you were wondering, the title to this blog should be sung to the MC Hammer song, "Hammer Time" :)

The First Snow of the Season!

Yesterday, it snowed for the first time this season. I can't say I'm shocked since I've seen it snow in July, but with snow comes the anticipation of Thanksgiving, food, Family and best of all, Christmas morning. I found myself wondering today if I could start putting out Christmas Lights and pull out the Christmas tree from the shed without getting hassled by Harris. I understand that it isn't even Halloween yet, but that doesn't mean that we can't have the Christmas spirit all year round (coming from the girl whose family kept up the Christmas tree until my Birthday in April...) There is nothing wrong with decorating the Christmas tree to fit each major holiday (HA!).
Well today was a little warmer than yesterday and as a plus, it wasn't actively snowing. So on impulse, I grabbed Hailee and McKenzie's snow suits and we hit the Village. We walked all over for about an hour until I ran out of Kleenex to wipe the girls noses. Hailee stopped at every twig and every leaf until she had a collection of shrubbery that she was happy with. It was neat to see her so interested in the things that she saw! Love it! Of course, walking around the Village means a pit stop at the club house for a sweet treat. They always have a bowl of dumdums and a plate of cookies, but both my girls seem to love dumdums. As evidence, pictures prove they are their father's daughters.

My dearest Hailee,
Two years ago today, you came into our lives. You have brought love, worry, laughter, and orneriness into our home and we love you for it. You have grown up so fast these past two years and I can't believe how big you are. Long and skinny, just like your Dad, you have become a little person of your own. How I love to watch you explore, discover and be a kid. You love to eat pancakes, and take baths. Your favorite movie is any Pixar movie, but a picture has to be on the disc or you wont watch it. You play with your sister and get her to laugh like only a sister could. You are learning to speak, though sometimes you just sound like Scooby-Doo. You like to organize your toys in your play Kitchen, so I know if I can't find something, I can look there. You love to help put away the dishes and put laundry into the dryer. When you're upset, you have to have your blankie and a milk and don't mind if I hold you. Your favorite song to sing is "Manamana" by the Muppets and you sing it very well. You like to count to three as Daddy spins you in the Computer Chair. You like to go up and down the stairs all by yourself to show me that you are a big girl. You always remind us to pray at meals and are very good at saying "Amen". I love you my darling daughter and I am looking forward to celebrating many more birthdays with you.

Pictures from recently just because...

Quilts

Sewing/Quilting and I have a love hate relationship. I really do enjoy cutting out pieces, and sewing blocks together, but I have never made it past that. The proof is in the shed with the 3 other quilt tops that remain unfinished and un-quilted... just waiting for me to get sewing. Well, in an attempt to get over my fear of quilting, I made two small baby quilts. The first quilt I made was for my Mom because I knew that since I had Flamingo fabric, whatever I did with it had to go to her. So this was my first quilt that I had ever finished and created by myself. But now that it's all said and done, there are three things I would have done differently. First, I would have made the back pink (the fabric I used as the binding), second I would have made the purple squares green (the fabric on the back) and third, I would have made the binding the black and white striped fabric.

The second quilt I made I actually started when Hailee was 3 months old (I told you I'm terrible at finishing quilts). I have a girl friend who is pregnant and I wanted to make her a baby quilt so I figured I would finish what I started. I created the pattern on my own and I really like how it turned out. This was also my first time quilting free hand (without the feed dogs) and it turned out better than I hoped... there are still a few flaws, but for my first quilted-quilt, I'm not complaining. :) I just love how it puckered on the back!

To Grandmas Birthday We Go...

This August we made the two day trek to Missouri to see Grandma Shirley Harris for her 85th birthday. It was an amazing trip and we loved spending time with family and meeting family members for the first time.We had a fun time visiting, eating, playing at the park and in the rain, telling stories about Grandma, and passing around all the new babies. Here some pictures that were taken by myself and various family members (Thank you Laura K., Shannon Gonzales, and Duane Harris!)... They turned out great, didn't they? We also had the opportunity to bless baby McKenzie and needless to say, we know why it is custom to bless babies when they are newborns and not 7 months. The squirminess and the extra 10 pounds makes for a very short, but sweet, blessing :) Lesson learned. But she looked beautiful in the blessing dress that Grandma Shirley made for her! How lucky she is...

To the Park We Go!!

We finally made it to the park with the Camera. Harris had so much pent up energy that he played basketball, tennis, soccer, and played with the girls! I couldn't help myself when I put both girls in the swings and saw how much fun they were having. It is easy to say that McKenzie loves to swing! Hailee is still adjusting but prefers both feet on the ground. She is getting braver, however, when it comes to the slides and playground equipment. But Hailee definitely had a ball (pun intended) playing tennis with Dad.

Well, I can honestly say that this year has been a blur. So much has happened that I failed to keep up on our daily doings. I hope this post can get you all up to date on what has been happening these past few months.

For Easter, I made sure to take over for Harris and give the girls lots of candy. It sure helps that Hailee knows the sign for Candy and makes it whenever she wants us to know that she wants candy. But here are the girls and their Easter baskets.

In mid-April, McKenzie and I flew to Virginia to visit my Grandparents. My Dad and Alison drove down from Vermont to drive me to South Carolina to see Harris graduate from Basic Training. It was such a fun experience for my Nana to meet McKenzie, I only wish I could have brought Hailee too because I know she would have loved meeting her Great-Grandparents.

Right after I got home for our whirlwind vacation, I started school the next day. Then my Auntie Becky and Grams drove out here to Idaho to see the babies and have fun with my Mom. They went all over the place and had so much fun! They all went to Bear World, and Yellowstone National Park. Hailee had such a blast feeding the animals and seeing all the sights at Yellowstone. We even got a 4 generation picture that is such a keepsake. I am so grateful that my family was able to drive out... Thank you!!!

Then my sister-in-law Maggie made a stop at our house for a few days with the kids during Memorial Day weekend and we had a lot of fun visiting and watching Hailee chase her cousins down for a hug while they ran away hiding their toys. But I think it is safe to say that Hailee definitely learned some tricks from her cousins: she is no longer afraid of the slide, she can jump off the bed, she crawls up on the table and wants to use a big kid cup.

Then Harris got home in June and we were so excited to have him home!!! We went to the splash park, hung out at home, and just got used to having Daddy Back. I wish I had had my camera in hand, instead of Harris's duffel bag, but the look on his face when Hailee ran out the front door when we got home was, in a word, priceless. I've never seen Harris look so happy, so surprised, or so scared in his life. Hailee must have grown 3 inches and grown 4 inches of hair since her Daddy left, so it was really great to see her take to her Daddy with no hesitations and all the excitement of a 2 year old.

Easter Dresses Preview

Today the girls wore their matching dresses. They were meant for Easter, but I just couldn't wait any longer! I wanted to see them in their matching outfits. And I must say that it was fun to dress them up and see them all cute. I can't wait for when they are both a little older and I can see them hold hands playing in matching outfits! (I can even accept the holding hands for pinching and screaming at one another... I just want to see them in matching outfits!)

We mailed Daddy pictures of the girls along with footprints and hand prints to show him how much they have grown since he left. Not a day goes by that we don't miss him!

One thing I have always loved was seeing little girls in cute frilly and poofy dresses. I was so excited when I went to KMart and found the cutest dresses for little girls... I couldn't help myself, but I bought Hailee a cute little dress (McKenzie too!) and I bought them matching Easter dresses that I will post pictures of around Easter. Hailee had so much fun twirling, and fluffing up her dress! I just love her to death!
McKenzie is getting so big and getting such a personality! She loves to smile and laugh and does both often even in her sleep. While I was giving the two girls a bath, Gramma was trying to catch McKenzies smile (she loves getting a bath) but we always seemed to miss it! Oh well...

Harris has been gone for 3 weeks now and thank goodness the time is flying. The girls keep Mom and I busy, but they always keep us laughing. If anyone wants to write Harris while he is at Basic Combat Training (BCT) just message me and I'll make sure you get it. He would love letters from anyone who wants to write him.
Hailee and McKenzie have become great friends and Hailee loves to give her sister hugs and kisses. McKenzie is slowly becoming more alert during the day and is such an easy baby. What a blessing that has been!

Mckenzie Sariah's story begins on Sunday, January 9, 2011. I started feeling contractions at 10:30pm and right away they were 6-7 mins apart. After two hours of convincing Harris that I was in labor and that "Yes Harris... I'm still having contractions" he picked up his sister Laura and she watched Hailee while we journeyed to the hospital to see if I was truly in labor. At 12:00am I was told that I had dilated to 5cm and was admitted. We were then put in the same delivery room that we had Hailee in so I knew it was a good omen. Immediately, I was asked if I wanted an epidural and I said YES YES YES! I knew that if I didn't get one, I wouldn't get any sleep and thus making the whole process a lot more tedious. So after getting the epidural and and sleeping on and off until 8 am, I was finally to 6cm... haha. So they broke my water and started me on pitocin. By 11:30am I was finally to 10cm and was told that when I started to feel pressure to call the nurse in so we could begin pushing. I started pushing at 11:45am, and after 5 mins of pushing, the nurse called in Dr. Allred, and after he arived, I only pushed for 15 more minutes before Mckenzie was brought into this world. She was 8lbs 9oz, and 20 inches long. As you can tell, she also came out with a beautiful had of brown hair. I have to say that this was such an amazing experience. I was awake, alert, and in very little pain (even after the epidural was removed). Harris and I are so happy that we have another little angel baby girl in our family.
Hailee has done a wonderful job so far as "big sister". She gently touches Mckenzie's hair, and gives her kisses on the head and can point to her and say "baaby"... super cute!

We have had fun getting ready for Christmas this year! Knowing that Hailee would be participating in the festivities this year really gave us the incentive to make it a big deal and do it right. I must admit, getting into the habit of saying "Santa's coming!" "Are you excited for presents from Santa" have been hard, but I'm getting better! Hailee, however, has no idea what's going on other than the fact that she gets lots of candy and is made to wear crazy pajamas. We are excited for tomorrow morning where we will witness Hailee going banana's on the wrapping paper! Fun Fun Fun! A day for giving Thanks...

Tis the season for giving thanks and filling our bellies with yummy food. How lucky we were to be able to enjoy a beautiful Thanksgiving meal together as a family. While this may have been Hailee's second Thanksgiving, it was the first Thanksgiving meal she got to eat with us! She loves turkey, stuffing, rolls (surprise, surprise), and jello salad. Harris and I bought a Turkey breast, instead of a whole turkey... we thought that a 6 lbs turkey was a better size for our family, than a 14 lbs turkey. It was the first turkey that I have ever cooked and it turned out really yummy! I didn't burn it, and it wasn't dry! We also made a fake apple pie... let me explain. Harris had the idea to make an apple pie from scratch, but when push came to shove, Harris decided he would just buy apple pie filling and make the dough from scratch. Again, when we were at the store he decided to buy ready-made dough. He said that although it was cheating, it gave the illusion of doing actual cooking because we had to assemble it. Ha! So we got home and guess who was the one to put the pie together? Me. I didn't mind, but as I got to thinking... for what we paid for the filling and the dough, we could have bought a Marie Calendars Apple Pie for the same price... Oh well. As I was reading the instructions to cook the pie, I realized that there weren't any. So I picked a temp on the oven, and just checked the pie every 15 minutes. Since I made the pie last night, I wanted to make sure it was edible just in case I needed a back up plan for another pie. Turns out... it was really good! But I think we have learned our lesson to either make things completely from scratch... or just buy a whole frozen pie. haha.
Hailee really enjoyed her Thanksgiving... and we especially enjoyed the 2.5 hour turkey nap we all took that lasted from 4:30pm to 7pm. Needless to say, that since Hailee just had the longest nap ever, and her bedtime is normally 8pm, Hailee was up until 10pm tonight burning off some of the energy.
I really enjoyed the time and laughter I was able to share with my husband and our daughter. I am so grateful for their love and laughter that they share with me daily. I am so proud of my husband for his decision to serve in the National Guard and all that comes with such a life. I know that he will succeed in anything that he sets his mind to. I am grateful for the families that are both near and far and the relationship we share with them. I am grateful for eternal families and the opportunity for my In-Laws to celebrate the birth of four more grand-babies this coming year. How spoiled they all will be! While Thanksgiving has become commercial, I am so thankful that families are brought together... even if it is just to eat and shop!

When we finally got our stroller, the giant box it came in became Hailee's new play spot. So in an effort to kill some time and use that Lunt, Harris turned the box into a princess castle for Hailee. She loves it! She played in that box for almost 2 hours last night. Then Daddy got into her castle with her and they had so much fun!

Here is just a couple pictures of when I found Hailee sitting in this popcorn bucket. I was in the kitchen making dinner and out I come and find this!! It was so cute! She was all bent under herself sitting in the bowl. She would get in... get out... move the bowl... and then get back in. It was super cute! But then I noticed a trend, Hailee loves getting into boxes, bowls, and under blankets! She likes to be in a cocoon of sorts and loves getting her picture taken too!

As a baby gift from my mom, we got a double stroller and needless to say... I am super excited! But maybe not as excited as Hailee! Not only has she been playing in the box that the stroller came in NON-STOP... but she loves to just sit in the stroller! The back seat reclines and Hailee likes to sit in the back and drink her sippy cup. She just stayed in the stroller for almost 25 minutes when I finally pulled her out! She did not want out! lol I'm glad she likes it as much as I do. But I thought these pictures of her were priceless...

Hailee has been discovering a wold inside boxes lately. There is something mystical about a box that entices young ones to climb inside, despite the box already being full of giant legos. But I have caught Hailee at least 6 times just sitting in her toy box playing with her toys. Super cute! I can't believe how grown up she is getting. :( She has such a little personality that is very much her own. She likes to do things her self and if she needs help, she'll ask. She is very much a Mommy's girl and makes sure the world knows it! I love you Hailee...

And yet another example of Hailee and her love of boxes. Hailee has 2-3 diaper boxes that she plays in. She likes to put toys in... take toys out. Get in the box... getting out the box. And her favorite box activity is when Mommy pushes her around the house in her box! She laughs and smiles and loves to go for box rides.

If any of you didn't know, Harris has been contemplating a career in the Military for some time now. As of 10am on Friday, November 12, 2010 Harris is a Private First Class in the National Guard. He will be leaving for BCT (Basic Combat Training) on Monday, January 31, 2010 to go to Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He will be there for 11 weeks and then following graduation, he will go to Fort Sill, Oklahoma for AIT (Advanced Individual Training) where he will train for 7 more weeks. He will be home, hopefully, Monday, June 6, 2010. While it will be hard having Harris gone for 5 full months, we know that this is the best decision for our family. I have to be honest that I never thought I would be an army wife, but my army husband is pretty awesome. I am so proud of him for wanting to serve his country. We are lucky that here at BYU-Idaho they have a ROTC program, that Harris will be enrolling into this next Fall. When he graduates, he will be a commissioned officer in the military.
Harris came home yesterday from his whirlwind trip to Boise where he was sworn in and had all his medical testing done and brought with him all of his new gear. He was really excited as he packed for his first drill weekend of his military career which he left for today. Lucky us, we had to wake up at 4:45am to get dressed, warm the car up, wake up the sleeping bug, and drive Harris to the Armory so he could be there by 5:30am to drive down to Pocatello for training. Last night we had to cut Harris' hair because it was just too long! (3 1/2 inches!!!) So... now it's too short for my taste but here are some before and after pictures to remember life with long hair. From this point on... it will always be short :(

And this picture below is Harris with a really bad razor burn! He knew he had to shave for MEPS, but realized that he didn't have any shaving cream. So instead he used my conditioner that is for damaged hair and is really acidic.... obviously the results were not good! This was Harris about 30 minutes before he had to leave! Fortunately for aloe and Neosporin we got the redness and swelling to a minimum before he left!

Well it's that time of year! Snow has finally come and I think it is here to stay for the next 9 months and I for one am EXCITED! We thought that it would be a good time to get Hailee used to playing in the snow, so we dressed her up in her little snow outfit (we need to get one that doesn't attract snow) but she had so much fun! She just walked right out into the snow and enjoyed touching the snow, putting it in her mouth and spitting it out! Yesterday I brought it a bowl of snow and gave her a spoon and let her go at it! She had so much fun. She would dip the spoon in and try to eat the snow off the spoon. She would throw the snow and squish it and watch it melt. Then afterwords we played in the nice warm bathtub so that she would warm up! Next week we plan on getting a sled (or a cookie sheet) and taking her sledding! :D

***Harris leaves for MEPS (Military Entrance Physical? Screening) tomorrow in Boise, and then on Friday he will stop in Pocatello and have his first drill weekend. So Hailee and I will be on our own from Thursday until Sunday night! Harris is a little bummed because his 23rd birthday is Sunday. Yay! But we will just have to celebrate on Monday for FHE! We'll miss you dad!

Here are some pictures that have been hiding on my cell phone! I can't believe how big Hailee is getting, and how BIG I'm getting. But I guess that comes with the territory, eh?

Well, in other news, Harris will be leaving for MAPS (Mental and Physical Screening) for the National Guard next Thursday, and his career with the military will officially begin. We are excited and nervous but know that this is the direction our family should go. We know that this has been a sore spot for family, but we appreciate their support nonetheless.

Hailee is a full on walker now, getting into anything and everything. She loves making messes, but I don't mind as long as I can get at least SOME homework done. We discovered that Hailee has a favorite blankie (taking after her Daddy some?) that she will not leave her crib without. She loves to play peek-a-boo with me and her blanket and has a very picky appetite. She can say 'Hi' and 'Mum'. She loves to blow raspberries and give sweet little kisses! I love this little girl and cannot wait for her to meet her little sister in just 11 short weeks!!!! I can already tell that they are going to get along great cause every time I hold Hailee, her sister kicks her! ;)

I've been busy busy busy with school! I made it to midterms with straight A's, but we'll see how these last 5 weeks treat me. For those who don't know, I'm taking 13 credits so that I can get my Associates, just in case I decide to hold off on the bachelors for a little bit. I'm taking an English Writing class (yuck!), Human Anatomy and Physiology, Humanities-Propaganda in the arts, Family Foundations, and a Fine Arts class where I attend several events throughout the semester. I really enjoy school, and it has been some sort of challenge figuring out how to be a mom, a wife, and student and still have time to take a shower. But I love every minute of it!

Maggie's Amazing Skull Brains.... Yummy!

It's that time of year again! Happy Halloween! We were so excited that we were able to go to down to Utah to stay with Maggie and her beautiful family and have an amazing Halloween party! Harris and I spent most of the week previous to Halloween with the Flu which gave us our idea for our costumes. Harris and I were dressed like we were sick, and Hailee was dressed in Brown and Green and was holding green germy toys cause.... 'tadaaa'! She was the Flu Virus. Pretty clever, huh? lol Maggie got really creative with the sewing machine and her entire family was someone from 'Toy Story'! It was so cute! Maggie and Chad were Slinky (Can you guess who was the butt?), Patrick was Buzz Lightyear, Auretta was Jessi, and cute little David was one of the Squeaky toy Aliens (think... "the claaaaw"). Michael was 'Dilbert', Clarissa was a baby (?), and Lillian was Tinkerbell! Super cute. Chads Brother and his family and Chads sister came to the party as well and we had lots of fun eating delicious food and playing fun games. Maggie out did herself with the food! We had Taco Soup, Pigs in a Skeleton, yummy Pillsbury Interverterbral Discs (haha), Pumpkin Cookies, Brains (you can see the picture above), and lots of candy that we stole from the Trick or Treater's bowl. So overall it was a fantastic weekend.

I think Maggie's right... we should make it a tradition!

I know that it is customary for children to grow up and develop, but ITS TOO FAST!!!! Hailee has been walking all over the house and I can't keep up with her! I know we put up a video of Hailee taking her first steps, but now a few weeks later, here she is cruising the living room.
I can't believe that she is a year old now. She is going to be a great big sister. She always shares her food with Mommy and Daddy. She always puts a smile on everyone's face. I love this little girl!

In other news, I am one week away from being in my third trimester! That means only 14 more weeks until baby #2 is here! I know many of you are wondering what her name will be and all I can say is that we haven't decided? lol We've come up with Hannah, Kyla, Philomena (haha)... but I don't think we'll know until we see her! So in the meantime, I've been busy chasing Hailee around and cleaning up all the messes she makes while doing as much homework as I can when she's awake and the rest when she's asleep. Overall, being as busy as I've been, this pregnancy has FLOWN by! I can't wait to meet our newest addition.

At this very moment, Harris is in Idaho Falls taking the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) to find out what jobs he would be best suited for in the National Guard. Harris is planning on enrolling in the ROTC for the Army at our School as soon as he is basic qualified. While this is a big career move for us and that it will be hard, we know that in the end, it will be the best thing for our family.

In hindsight, I'm thinking that I should have taken all her clothes off BEFORE she ate the cake, but she enjoyed having a bath! I'm sorry to say that there was no cake in her hair, but I did find some in her diaper right before I gave her a bath... don't know how it got there. We had so much fun making this cake for Hailee! So Hailee has discovered a fun game. Try to get past the pillows, the diaper genieII, and get to everything on the book shelf. Last night, after finding all the diapers scattered across the floor, and dvd's hiding underneath the couch, I moved everything up a shelf because I figured she wouldn't be interested in pulling books off the shelf.... WRONG! I came from the bedroom after putting some laundry away, and I noticed that it was really quiet. Hailee was wedged between the diaper genie, and the couch trying to get at the books. When she saw me she just started laughing, and started grabbing at the books even faster. Even when I said "NO, Hailee!" She just laughed. Labor Day weekend was one of girl filled laughter and so many fun memories. My sisters-in-law came up from Utah to visit and look around for housing for Laura in the Winter. We stayed up late and watched movies... we laughed and cried and sometimes cried while we laughed! It was great!

One of the best parts of the weekend for me, was going to dinner with all my sisters (wishing Laura K and Janeia were there with us!) to the Olive Garden where we were very loud and very silly! We got several looks of dissapproval from parents with their young ones as we shouted nonsense... we had looks of confusion from the waitress as I tried to explain my reasoning for bringing dessert while dinner was still on the table. This was to keep us from thinking about how full we were so we could enojoy the most delicious piece of White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake I have ever tasted. We had so much fun, that I had forgotten what it was like to be silly with other girls! I loved it! But I must give props to my husband for watching both, Hailee and her cousin Lillian, while we went and enjoyed a delicious dinner. He made this weekend a blast by being very sweet and forgiving of all the squeeling that occured even though, he was outnumbered 6 to1. I love you Harris!

It seems that throughout this pregnancy, I have been craving chocolate ANYTHING! So I thought that if I am going to eat chocolate, I AM GOING TO EAT CHOCOLATE! So that meant baking a chocolate-fudge cake, with fudge icing! Yummy... but little did I know that we had a chocolate monster on our hands. From the first bite of cake that Daddy gave her, to the last lick of frosting off of Mommy's finger, Hailee has been a chocolate cake fiend!

So a couple of days ago, Hailee learned to put her tounge in between her lips and blow raspberries... and she hasn't stopped! This morning she was making this sound for 45 WHOLE MINTUES! I couldn't believe it... and as adorable as it is, it is getting really old that everytime I pick her up, my face gets sprayed with infant spit. Time is the Man that Pushes Life Onward

God invented time for those who wish to stay where they are. You see, time will force any to move on. And those that do not will just get old and look silly while doing so (cough, Brett Farve, cough). Such is the case with the this Lunt family. We, or I rather, have been in school for many a years ("A lot of people go to college for seven years." "Yeah, they're called doctors), and it is inevitable; we will graduate or be kicked out for have inflated credits. We finished a semester a few weeks ago. Shayna got a 4.0 last semester, and I got a 3.7 due to a 'D-' and a 'B' in Test Taking and Concentration. Needless to say, my skill in both aforementioned areas are at the same levels. Shayna would argue that since school has ended my skills in the latter have digressed a few notches: too much golf.

Hailee is developing normally. Eight teeth and ten seconds on her feet by her own power are reminders that time is always pushing. She is constantly saying, "Momma." We think that this means food because every time we feed her she spews this word. Soon momma will be linked with the woman who has sunflower looking eyes and patients with no end.

I suppose that is it for now. And remember, weather you like it or not, time will drag you to the dust with wrinkles and slowed reactions.

So last week, my mom made an inpromptu visit to help us out with finals, but decided to get sick instead :( So she spent about 5 days in bed sick and when she finally began feeling better, we decided to take advantage the day before she was to leave! I finally found the camera, and as I was scrolling through old photos, I found pictures of Harris and Hailee during thier "Daddy Daughter Photo Shoot." Hailee was about 3 months old and Harris spent a good hour taking pictures. It was so cute to come across these that I just had to share them!

And you will see that there is no doubt that Hailee is her Fathers daughter....

Doughnuts and the Pregnant mind...

Shayna bought a maple bar, a chocolate bar, a Bavarian Cream doughnut, and a green frosted doughnut for both of us this morning. Apparently, when I took out my maple bar, I flipped over the chocolate bar in the process, plastering the bottom of the bag in chocolate frosting from the top of her chocolate bar. After relating this story to me, Shayna said, "Do you know what I had to do?" I answered in the negative. " I had to lick the bottom of the bag!" The bottom of the bad was torn open and the brown skid mark had a smeared streak through it. The pregnant mind never ceases to scare me.

Baby #2

Here are the ultrasound pictures of Baby #2... when we first found out that we were pregnant, our estimated due date was 1-11-2011. Pretty cool, huh? Well, based on the baby's development (And the fact that it still has a tail), the new due date is 1-18-2011. So we were pretty excited, only Harris was alittle bummed because he said, "There goes our chances of the Doctor inducing you on the 30December so we can put the kid on our taxes..." hahahaha....
Anywho, enjoy baby #2... They will be here before we know it!

Bully your children. It will make them stronger than you can possibly imagine. Plus, it is always fun to pick on people littler than yourself. Truest story I've every told.

We got a new toy and have spent it video taping Hailee. This has been the funniest in my opinion. Shayna is a loving mother who has a serious history with bulling. We are trying to wean her of this terrible habit. She is only a bully two times a week now.

For Harris's birthday, my mom, aunt, and grams came to visit Hailee but were able to celebrate Harris's birthday with us! We celebrated with Pizza and games with my family and Michael and Clarissa and Lillian too! It was really neat for Hailee to meet her Great Grandma (GG) and Auntie Becky and be able to document everything that happened!

Master Ginderbread Decorator Extrodonar!

These are our first gingerbread houses built together. With my years of gingerbread house decorating experience (yes, years, my family has done gingerbread houses for nearly every year of my life; I am 22-years-old now), I have discovered that candy that is good to eat is not necessarily candy that is good for decorating. On the morning of some day in this highly commercialized month, I set out for molasses and a bunch of other nasty ingredients commonly found in concrete. Four stores--Kmart, Wal-Mart, Dollar Tree, and Albertson’s--, a new mixer, and three hours later, we were ready to make cement and brown dry wall.

Now, it is a common practice in the Lunt house hold to slather the sides of the gingerbread with buckets of past, it can hardly be called frosting, and brick the sides of the house with enough candy so that the house nearly crumbles from the weight (one of my walls nearly fell in). My house is decorated in such a manner; Shayna's house, however, falls short of this expectation; though, the house, itself, did not fall in any way just to clarify. I am very disappointed.

So, I cooked all the pieces separately. I cut out the shapes that now wobble from the weight of candy (or stand firm, neatly decorated depending on which house you look at) and cooked them. The resulting walls and roof pieces look like a kindergarden cut them will a stick. However, with that concrete we use as mortar (I am positive that modern fireplaces are built with this heathen past) we got the walls to stand in a way that resemble a house. Some nasty finger licks later (it is a basic human instinct to lick one's fingers once there is frosting on them. Unfortunately, we were working with hazardous waste, not frosting) we were finished decorating our houses. Again, Shayna's house is naked; I saw it shivering in the night from the cold. Mine, however, proudly peacocks when it stops wobbling under the weight of that paste and candy.

I bet you will never be able to guess which house was decorated by the master gingerbread decorator extraordinaire.

Hailee Rebekah Lunt was born on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 12:14 pm. It was after being in labor for a full 24 hours (2 of which were spent pushing) that I finally got to meet her! She came out with the longest head I had ever seen, but the doctor said not to worry! But what was surprising was the full head of BLOND hair! Its beautiful! She weighed in at 8lbs 8oz and 20 inches long!

Our adventure started on Monday when after my routine check-up appointment, that stated that I was 4cm and 90% effaced and having a contraction in front of the Doctor, I was told to head on over to the hospital because I was in labor. I told the doctor that it wasn't funny to tease pregnant women, at which he responded that he was serious and that the baby was on her way! I, of course was ecstatic, while my mom just mouthed to me "You're not ready..." What is that supposed to mean!? The doctor said I was... so lets go! (12:30pm)

Well, she was right. I felt fine! So we went to Wendy's (1:40pm) against doctors orders and got some yummy food and then went home to pack mine and Hailee's bags. And then we were joined by Harris who got home from work very confused as to why we were going to the hospital when I sure didn't act pregnant. To this I responded, "Because the Doctor told me to!!! Aren't we SUPPOSED TO LISTEN TO HIM???" But I was outnumbered 2 to 1. So after getting some things done at the house and contractions 15 minutes apart, we ran to D.I. and finally decided maybe we should just go to the Hospital (4:10pm).

After reaching the hospital and being admitted (thank goodness for pre-registering) I was once again checked and without warning, my water broke! (4:30pm) It was then that they strapped the baby's heart monitor and my uterine contraction monitor on my tummy. No longer than 15 minutes after my water had broken did my contractions become stronger and much closer together. After quite a few more hours, I still had not dialted any farther than 4cm so they started me on Petocin which increased my contractions and brought them much closer together.

I had made the decision that I would try to go natural and if push comes to shove (no pun intended) I would ask for drugs. It was meditating on the pink 'Beanie-Baby' bear for 8.5 hours that I finally asked for an epidural. So around 1:30am Tom, the anaesthesiologist, came in wearing jeans and chewing bubble gum to give me my epidural. Immediately I trusted him! Only a confident anaesthesiologt would do that, right? Well, it turned out he was fantastic!!! Before he even made it in the room I announced that I did not want to see the needle! He only laughed and said if you see this needle then you are facing the wrong direction! haha But honestly, the only pain I felt was the pinch from the needle of the numbing medication. I didn't even feel the capri-sun straw sized needle (as Harris called it) being insterted into my back. It was amazing! After 10 mintues I was pain free! I felt absolutely nothing! (2:00am)

After dozing on and off for the next several hours I was finally checked at 6:00am and was told that I was 100% effaced and finally at an 8! Then at 9:00am I was told I was 9cm and my cervix had dropped way forward! A half-hour later I was re-checked and I was finally at a 10! I was then told that I could start pushing! How weird a feeling it was to push when you couldn't feel anything. I pushed for 2 hours before I finally asked if the Doctor could come in and help the rest of the way. By the time he came in I was still pushing with only 4 people (not including me) in the room. Then all of a sudden, there were 8 other nurses in the room watching the show! Not that I minded, I was alittle preoccupied! But once Doctor Barton came in he proceeded to use forceps to help get baby Hailee out, which was difficult because she was faced face up which had forced her head to become sevearly cone shaped! After some ripping, an episiotomy, and 10 more mintues of pushing that Hailee was finally born into this world (12:14pm)! She was so beautiful! Nothing was more special than being able to hold my baby girl after Harris cut her ambilical cord. I will always remember seeing the look of pure love on Harris's face while he stared at both Hailee and I.

While Hailee was being washed up, I was being sewed up! I had gotten a 3rd degree tear! Ouch...!

We finally made it into our new room and we were so excited to be able to hang out with our baby girl for the first time! We can't thank everyone enough for all their love and support!!!

Pulled Into This World

Shinny metal forceps pulled Hailee Lunt into this world at 12:14 pm on 6 October 2009. Weighing in at 8lbs 8oz and 20 inches long, she is a healthy baby who is nursing savvy. An hour didn't pass before the strawberry blonde baby learned where the life milk comes from.
She looks like a grumpy sailor when she crumples her lower lip. The purple beanie on her head adds to her sailor image.
The mother now gives more to the child, who has been feeding for nearly an hour now. Shayna is a bit pale but has never been more beautiful. Enjoy the pictures; they may not be up for a few more hours because Shayna knows computes and such better than I.

Pray for a BIC

The date is finally set. Shayna and I will be sealed to each other on 19 September. This date will mark the 20 day countdown until a candy fiend and a gorgeous, patient women expect to be terrified new parents. I sat on our DI coach as Shayna sifted her sleeping position while a bit of a whimper escaped her mouth. My heart jumped as I thought she might be going into labor. She got up and went to the bathroom. About ten minutes later she shifted and held her basketball-sized tummy again. If this happened at least four more times within the next hour, which it didn't, this candy fiend would have started to freak out.
I didn't pay attention to Sports Center for the past hour. I monitored and timed Shayna's sifting patters. I wondered, 'How long does it take for a mother to recover from childbirth?' If it is more than a week, we would be doomed.
I make jokes. "You better hold that sucker in for at least another week." Never mind the opening sentece of this paragraph; I say things that are true and laugh nervously.
We are praying for a BIC (born in the covenant) baby in this house hold. We want nothing more than to have a new, healthy baby. But we just don't want her too soon.

Yesterday was a day that was full of good and bad memories!

First off, Janet and Janiea drove all the way from Boise, ID to attend Harris's ordination into the Melkezidic Priesthood which was performed by Michael, Harris's older brother. It really was a special moment that I'm sad many did not get to see! But what a blessing it is for me to finally live in a home where the Priesthood is available to me and our soon to be baby girl. I know that Harris was so proud of himself for finally reaching his goal of being worthy to attain the Preisthood! (Good job Honey!)
And since Harris's Dad, Dave, couldn't be at the ordination (a choice made so he could be here to escort Harris through the temple and be here for our sealing) Harris asked Michael to preform the ordination. However, when Michael showed up he was studying his little card of what to say with crazy intent! But I have to say that he did perfect! Not to say that he wasn't nervous, but I could feel the love that Michael and Harris have for each other which is pretty darn special!
At the end of the ordination, I looked over at Janet and saw the tears of love and excitement as she witnessed her son receive the priesthood. Harris is so lucky to have a mom like Janet (well, I guess I can say that 'we' are so lucky to have a mom like her! ;D For she really has such a sweet spirit!
After the ordination we made our way home so that we could all rest for awhile before going over to Michael and Clarissa's for dinner and games. I threw a lasagna in the microwave (an hour is too long to wait for the oven to do its job and I figured 25 mins is long enough when your hungry!) and we all took a quick tour of the clubhouse so we could show off the awesome theater room. But then as we were playing with the TV in the theater room, Harris started complaining of back pain. Which is odd, because Harris usually never complains of aches and pains. So we came back to the apartment and found him pacing and sitting down, pacing and lying down, and then running to the bathroom and pacing some more saying that his back really hurt! Well this certainly freaked me out when I could see his eyes all red-brimmed as if he could cry at any moment! So I jumped onto webmd.com (amazing website!!!) and selected all his symptoms and the top 2 results were 'Kidney Infection' and 'Kidney Stones'! Since Levi had had kidney stones not too long ago, she jumped on the phone to see what his symptoms were, and funny enough he had everything that Harris had! So I told Harris we were going to the ER which he didn't really fight which was my second indication that he really was in a lot of pain!
We arrived at the ER and he was immediately admitted and was given an IV and some pain medication. After 30 mins of Harris withering in pain, he was given another dose of pain medication and was then asked to give a urnie sample and was wheeled off to get a CT scan.
The results came in and not only did Harris have a Kidney Infection, but he had a kidney stone the size of a large bee-bee. Ahhh! So they started him on anti-biotics and while I was off getting something to eat, they had admitted him to stay over-night and moved him upstairs! Unfortunatly for us, after 1.5 hours and only pushing his morphine pump once he was pretty much pain free for 14 hours! Harris kept saying that he was fine and just wanted to go home, but they wanted to keep him there to monitor him because of the infection just incase he attained a high fever, etc. So every time he went to the bathroom he had to pee into a jug which they strained to catch the rock! But no such luck! We often walked around the 2nd floor so that we could get the stone moving. The nurses at the nursing station often laughed as they saw us teasing him that he was "taking this sympathy thing alittle too far!" but at least he'll know what kind of pain I'm in!
Finally this morning, the Dr. admitted defeat. He said that it most likly disolved in the bladder and he passed it pain free. Or the rock is just hanging out waiting to cause more pain. So at 9:30am they released him with a perscription and a huge medical bill that Harris was none too pleased about. But my theory is that I would rather see my husband well and taken care of no matter the cost. The way our lives are today we will always be facing debt, but I would rather spend time together working together to pay off our debt then have some medical problem go awry because we didn't get it taken care of!
So we are finally home and enjoying Labor Day together before our week begins and we have to go back to work! Hopefully that kidney stone passed and he is free and clear of pain!

We Moved... Finally!

Well, Harris and I finally found an apartment in Rexburg after months of searching! We found an apartment that is just right for us... however small the apartment might be. But with a washer and dryer and internet, we are not complaining! We atcually really love it! We only have 5 more boxes to unpack and then everything will be complete!

Harris also set up the crib yesterday and it fits perfectly in the little bedroom nook. It's amazing to think that we only have 7 more weeks until our little girl is ready to come into the world. Sure, its alittle bit scary, but I know that every moment will be so worth it!

Here is a cute picture of Rosalynn when we all went out to Wendy's. She kept taking a bite out of the chicken nugget and leaving the end sticking out of her mouth!
